Installing WhereIsMyVelobox on macOS

WhereIsMyVelobox is not currently distributed via the Apple App Store and is not signed with an Apple developer certificate. Therefore, macOS may display a security warning the first time you launch it and initially block the program.

This is normal in this case. The application can still be installed and launched.

1. Download WhereIsMyVelobox

  1. On your Mac, open the WhereIsMyVelobox download link.
  2. Download the file whereismyvelobox_1.2.3.dmg.
  3. Wait for the download to complete.

The downloaded file is usually in the Downloads folder.

Tip: In Safari, you can click the download icon in the top right corner to view the downloaded file directly.

2. Open the DMG file

  1. Open Finder.
  2. Click Downloads on the left.
  3. Locate the file whereismyvelobox_1.2.3.dmg.
  4. Double-click the file to open it.

macOS will now open the WhereIsMyVelobox installation window.

3. Install WhereIsMyVelobox

In the open window, you will see the whereismyvelobox application.

  1. Drag the whereismyvelobox icon to the Applications folder.
  2. Wait a few seconds for the application to be copied.
  3. Then close the installation window.

The application is now installed on your Mac.

4. Launch WhereIsMyVelobox for the first time

  1. Open Finder.
  2. Click Applications on the left.
  3. Locate whereismyvelobox.
  4. Double-click the application.

Since WhereIsMyVelobox is not currently signed by Apple, macOS may initially refuse to launch it.

Don't worry: This does not mean the installation failed.

5. If macOS blocks the application

If a message appears stating that the application cannot be opened because Apple cannot verify the developer or the application has been blocked for security reasons, proceed as follows:

  1. Close the displayed message.
  2. Open System Settings.
  3. Select Privacy & Security.
  4. Scroll down to the Security section.
  5. A note should appear there stating that whereismyvelobox has been blocked.
  6. Click Open Anyway next to this note.
  7. macOS may ask for your user password or require confirmation with Touch ID.
  8. Confirm the security prompt.
  9. In the message that appears next, click Open again.

WhereIsMyVelobox should now launch.

Important: This release is usually only required for the first launch.

Alternative method

If Open Anyway is not displayed in System Settings, you can also release the application directly through Finder.

  1. Open Finder.
  2. Go to Applications.
  3. Locate whereismyvelobox.
  4. Hold down the control key on the keyboard.
  5. Click whereismyvelobox at the same time.
  6. In the menu that appears, select Open.
  7. Then confirm again with Open.

Important: Do not simply double-click here. The control key must be held down when clicking.

6. WhereIsMyVelobox is ready for use

After the one-time security release, you can launch WhereIsMyVelobox normally in the future:

Finder → Applications → whereismyvelobox

You do not need to change the security settings every time you launch it.

If it still doesn't work

Please check the following points first:

  • Was the DMG file downloaded completely?
  • Was whereismyvelobox copied to the Applications folder?
  • Was the application launched at least once before you looked for Open Anyway under Privacy & Security?
  • Did you confirm the macOS security prompt when clicking Open Anyway?
  • Alternatively, did you click the application while holding down the control key and select Open?
